The Dead Files is returning this Saturday with their season 7 premier in Jamaica. I am so excited to see new episodes of my favorite paranormal show.
For those of you who haven't seen the show...what's wrong with you?...You really need to check it out this Saturday on the Travel Channel at 10pm (Eastern).
In the beginning of a case, Matt Anderson "clears" the location by removing or covering any misleading objects such as photographs, religious artifacts, and personal items.
Then he follows Amy on her "walk" video taping her as she describes what she sees, hears, and feels.
Amy Allan is an amazing physical medium who goes on a "walk" of a location and speaks directly to the ghosts and/or entities there. I give her props for going in and risk a beating from some of these baddies and talking to the friendlies just to help these families. Amy goes into every location blind. On the show, she says that the dead knows she's coming before she does. It's actually true. She prefers not knowing anything before hand, any piece of information may influence her part of the investigation.
One thing you should know about Amy...she'd better never hear of you provoking the dead for your amusement or any other reason. Things like seances and spirit boards really mess with the dead, not to mention you really don't know who (or what) you're really communicating with. Although, she is an extremely nice and fun person to chat with on Twitter.
This is the very handsome Steve Di Schiavi. He's Amy's "open-minded skeptical" partner who has never personally experienced anything paranormal himself. Steve has devoted more than 21 years of active duty to the New York Police Dept as a homicide detective and is a former Marine. He uses his experience and knowledge to interview clients, witnesses, law enforcement, local historians, etc. while doing his own research on the properties history to see if anything of note has happened there.
He really does his homework. Even if it doesn't sound like a whole lot of information, he holds on to it. Steve works hard to find out anything and everything about the property and the people who have lived there or have had ties to it. Steve also tries to get photos of the property and people.
One thing you really see in the show is his compassionate heart. Steve truly cares about what his clients go through. The Dead Files receive many requests, he works with the team to try help mostly ones with children and/or the elderly. Steve says they are less likely able to defend themselves, and it breaks his heart when they're suffering.
After not communicating at all with each other during the investigation, they come together with the client at the end to reveal what they found out.
It's freakishly cool how both investigations line up almost perfectly spot on. Steve cracks me up with the faces he makes when Amy talks about her walks, because it's amazing on how accurate she is. This is the part where Amy reveals her sketch(es)... warning, some of these sketches can't be unseen (scary).
At this time, Steve asks Amy if it's safe for the clients to stay or leave. Amy almost never says to leave unless there's absolutely no other options. Usually, she has solutions on how to deal with the problem. This is what I love about this show, Amy tells you how to fight for your home and your family.
This is the awesome crew that we need to thank. Without them, there wouldn't be a show.
This is Steve with the Dead Files' awesome executive producer Rob Rosen.
I had the exciting privilege to give mini interviews to Amy and Rob...
Amy's questions:
Me: How do you prepare for your walks?
Amy: "I do an hour long meditation & I choose my walk stones & do a reiki protection."
Me: How is it having skeptic as partner?
Amy: "I have always worked with a skeptic! It’s part of my method for investigations."
Me: Any advice for those who are unable to get help through the Dead Files.?
Amy: "Try to reach out in your community, ask for referrals!!!"
Rob’s Question:
Me: Before doing the Dead Files, what were your views on the paranormal? Has Amy changed those views?
Rob: “I honestly never gave much thought to the paranormal before becoming the show-runner of The Dead Files. But here’s the thing I love about this job— television gives you the chance to enter all sorts of fascinating new worlds. So what are my views now? I can say this with complete conviction— I am blown away by what Amy does every single week. I know, better than anyone, just how much integrity she brings to her work. She literally knows nothing about the locations we go to. And yet— every week, we sit in the reveal and Amy knows things about the clients that they didn’t even tell Steve about. I’ve never had a direct experience so I guess that makes me an open-minded skeptic. But after 82 episodes, I’m definitely a believer in Amy Allan.”
Thank you, Amy and Rob.
Steve was unfortunately extremely busy, but he did help provide some wonderful pictures for this blog. Thanks, Steve.
